Green cheek conures are one of the most popular parrots in the pet trade, and for good reason. Their large personality and intelligence, yet small size, makes them a versatile parrot for those with beginner to expert parrot experience. While they make noise like all parrots, theirs is quieter compared to other conures and even other parrots. Because of their quieter voice and smaller size, they are suited for apartment living. Green cheek conures are sociable birds, and the majority love meeting and interacting with a variety of people. They can even get along with children, though care and supervision must be taken so both parrot and child remain safe and happy in their interactions. Care should be taken with these birds as these little dynamos see themselves as larger than they actually are. This can cause them to get in trouble! Thankfully, with your help and supervision, they will stay out of trouble. Many enjoy playing with a variety of toys and eating fruits, vegetables, and nuts of all kinds. They have the ability to learn a variety of tricks and be trained, and are especially eager when provided a delicious reward for their efforts! They are capable of learning and speaking a of couple words, though it is not as proficient as other parrot species. Green cheek conures tend to enjoy head scratches, snuggling, and time with those they love. If you are looking for a smart, colorful, and entertaining companion, the green cheek conure may be right for you!
